“Doesn’t work” as in most people who have picked it up at any point haven’t actually even tried to read it. Kinda like Tufte books. All self-respecting designery types own a set, almost none read it. I found "The Visual Display of Quantitative Information" a thought-provoking read, but it hasn't really changed the way I make plots. Liked the data-ink ratio concept, but that one propagates very well on its own. Any readings in that vein that you think work better?
