I’m moving the breaking smart list to substack this week. There will be broken links galore, which I may or may not ever get around to fixing. Main immediate reason: substack is free while mailchimp is now costing me $90/mo.

didn't know about this mailchimp cost. last month I moved my newsletter from tinyletter to substack because the latter had a much better editor! (and today used substack to start a new newsletter)

Mailchimp has been aggressively pivoting towards serving marketers over publishers. They do have a free tier, but it tops out at 2000. My 2 lists together now top 10,000 and I'm in their metered pricing zone. They're doing some big updates now which I'm not hanging around for.

oh yeah that's true. for the last one year it's always been about "campaigns". as if all newsletters are marketing campaigns. and that's damn irritating. And their editor sucks insanely
