it can be frustrating to get advice from conscientious people (not their fault) because it often amounts to "have you tried doing things?" yes I have but it's really really really hard!
otoh, I don't want to fatalistically reinforce my limitations

People who are good at taking advice are generally terrible at giving it. And vice-versa.
This is not necessarily conscientious people but can also be people who get most of their ideas on things to try from others.

Often because they don’t trust their own ideas rather than because they don’t think of them. It’s a kind of social proof/validation seeking for actions. And they assume others are like that too. So their advice giving falls into that pattern.
