Write only is people (like me) who try very hard to avoid culture war stuff, but when we encounter it, we try to explain to the participants where they are misunderstanding each other, and how they can defuse and mutually improve. 1/

Does this ever work? Well I'm a lot happier having read a bunch of authors who explain stuff at a meta level and having figured out some contributions to that analysis. So maybe I can help a few other people? Of course this requires a reader who wants to understand not fight…

I don't understand you; maybe you don't understand me? My point is that understanding why people behave this way, how this is just the n'th manifestation of a constant pattern, the role signaling plays, etc, all allow one to feel much less emotional about what one sees.
