“Don’t think about it” is the secret to enjoying science fiction. Leave the belief + i*unbelief cat in the box. You don’t need suspension of disbelief you need resistance to looking too closely.

William Gibson warned against the "clomping foot of nerdism", IIRC, and I think that this is partly what he was talking about. Detailed world-building. The hunt for verisimilitude can really wreck your experience. But then again, that is exactly what some fans want.

Is that something you can choose to do? I find it just happens. The time travel in Looper was sort of laughable but I didn't care since the movie had won me over. Interstellar bothered me but you could argue the physics was better.
