To answer my own question, probably a particular dated style of humor writing with Douglas Adams as best known exponent. I’m gonna keep trying to get better at that even if only 5 other GenXers read my attempts.

In a way I’m kinda glad a taste for this kind of humor is viewed almost like an affectation these days and dismissed as simplistic and old-fashioned. Less crowded.
Though I classify things like Rick and Morty with it, that’s more a descendant style marked by an edge of paranoia

I'd argue this isn't necessarily an old-fashioned kind of humo(u)r but rather British style. In Europe we grew up influenced a lot by British culture, and there's a lot of Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett fans among millennials and GenZ
