Figured out what strikes me as creepy about domestic cozy and Gen Z yesterday. It’s the juxtaposition of unironic traditionalism and youth. I think I didn’t see this earlier because I didn’t stop to ask what traditionalism is. I confused it with political/cultural conservatism.

Wow, lots of good stuff to unpack here! Could be why the youngs all *seem* so much more sorted than we were at that age. Why is this happening? Can't just be that the search space is too large - it was too large 40 years ago. Capitalism now proven as hollow as Marxism/Fascism?

The Gen Z search space seems unimaginably small to me. Constrained by high costs of (questionable) education, housing and medical care, they have few options beyond what their hands can create. They remind me of the generations of 30s: few options for real engagement.
