What are some things people don’t expect you to understand (based on your education, background what people assume about you, etc) but you do?

Hmm this is a harder question than it sounded like in my head. I got nothing. I don’t think I’ve surprised anyone thus way in a long time. I must be pretty wysiwyg. Or they hide their surprise.

First hand experience of explicit racism as the receiving/lower status party. Familiarity with code switching, distrust of law enforcement, etc as a byproduct.
