I once defined sociopaths as people who operate by a personal morality and do not seek to justify themselves or seek sanction for their behaviors. I did not consider the corner case of people who might do that without actually being aware of it. Sociopathy via cluelessness.

“I’ll do whatever I want so long as I’m good by my standards but it’s unfair if everyone doesn’t recognize me as good by their standards as well” is not a tenable position. But it’s getting increasingly popular. We really need that extreme-ghosting tech to make this work.

You can’t maneuver very far without at least a modicum of subconscious awareness

I think this doesn’t take into account the empirical descriptions of this condition- which I think is not a disease in the truest sense but an evolved and terrifying lack of remorse and empathy.. it is not possible to operate on a preference system unawares, imo

Good/bad or anti-/social are attributes which do not contribute very well with the definition of a sociopath in the gervais sense nor was choosing that term in the first place.
I envisioned the sociopath as a satanist in the sense of driving an org for his means
