I’ve found it useful to treat other minds the same way I treat unfamiliar territories. I try to construct maps for individual territories. Is New York a more or less “typical” city than LA or Chicago? Who cares? You can’t navigate one using maps for the other anyway.

I suspect there are actually plenty of similarities. Perhaps even enough to sustain a notion of typicality. I am just very suspicious of the idea that all variance would conveniently line up along politically useful lines.

It makes sense that visible physical differences would induce political boundaries where they also correspond to cultural boundaries. It is not obvious why invisible neurodiversity would.
