Acknowledging you’re surprised by a reaction and making efforts to understand and accommodate it is not the same as admitting you’re wrong. If it feels like it, it means you knew you were wrong all along.

so polluting corporations real motivation is to pollute? I would say it's profit and they lack the countervailing motivation not to pollute.
Likewise, I may plant a garden because it makes me happy. If I don't put up a fence, is my real motivation to share beauty?
