I think it took great courage to do what MCU did: make individual movies somewhat mechanically crafted without too many moving parts or subtle layers, so they could be assembled together into a bigger edifice. It's easy to get more "artistic", harder to get go more industrial.

The question is when did they (Kevin Feig? Joss Whedon?) know what they were doing? I don’t think you know on day one; certainly the Phase 1 movies kinda suck and don’t have that feel.
