Dystopian science fiction is fun. Actually living in a dystopia is definitely not fun.

* Can fun be had with structure, or does fun require unstructured time? What are the prerequisites for fun? * Maybe all the fun has migrated to the closed universes of video games? * What prevents us from having fun online?

I live in NY and I feel the fun deficit pretty hard. The common "fun" activities here e.g. Drinking With Friends all have that flavor of hedonist desperation mentioned downthread.
