In literal weight training, I don't think I've ever done a true ORM. Maybe 85% max, with say 65% regular. That's a guess since I've never done a true ORM. Closest is maybe 3 reps. In writing though, I had a bad habit of *always* nearly always going for the ORM.

In writing, ORM is the word count you generally put out in a single first-dump writing session, which is determined by a) the fugue energy driving the idea b) physical energy. For me it used to be always a > b = 14h, so many of my ribbonfarm posts 2007-2015 are 14h ORMs

Now, both a and b are plummetting, so that's why I'm trying to systematically do 0.7 ORM type writing. Hence blogchains and such. Also, it's more like cardio than weights now.

In all other areas of life I basically don't do anything that even looks like strength training under even the most generous interpretation.

No worries there, I completely and awfully suck at weight training and hate doing it. Bad form, embarrassingly low weights, poor discipline :D Only do it because doctor gave me dire Middle-Aged Health Warnings. But it does offer many very interesting lessons/analogies

I imagine just like writing, any weigh training is more beneficial than none. this was interesting and amusing, thanks.
