What the heck does it mean to “work closely” with someone? How would you work distantly with people?

If the two individuals' shoulders touch >=0.0671% of the total time spent working together, then that qualifies as working closely! 🤓🤔🤷♂️

Working distantly is the norm. It implies a contractual style of transactional interaction that is all surface and no substance. Bullshit Jobs!

I think the alternatives to working closely are:
“We work together occasionally”
and
“We’re in some of the same meetings”

Example: I'm a PhD student who "works closely" with his supervisor. It means we sometimes contribute to the very same files of code, and we discuss every time is needed, even every day. Most PhD students are entirely independent and meet their supervisor once a week or even month

The difference between “intimating an understanding (of a situation)” and “being intimate with someone”

Frequency of interactions x change in output resulting from those interactions.
