Another deconflation question: is liking yourself the same as self-esteem? Esteem seems like an other-regarding attitude rooted in status while like/dislike seems to be about simply enjoying the company of someone (possibly yourself)

I think esteem carries some confidence connotations too, which maybe come with the status part you mentioned.
