LVT is too fair, so it lacks "special" interests.

Bonus points for automating it away entirely, via inflation. "inflation works like a tax on people who hold money"https://www.frbsf.org/economic-research/publications/economic-letter/1997/september/what-is-the-optimal-rate-of-inflation/ …

That's the most horrible way.

LVT leads to smaller, lower income landholders, and also reduces rents.

That's what is nice about land assessments as opposed to buildings and other capital property. The values do not require inspection or subjective interpretation. LVT assessments are public and based on location, so neighbors should be paying the amount. Any variation stands out.

A good land assessor can usually get within 5 or 10 percent of the market without leaving the office. Building assessors have to inspect the house, then fight with owners who argue that they should be compensated w/ less tax for bad siding, foundation, or for letting roof fall in

Idea #247 this morning: Nationalize the resource extraction industries and use that as a tax source instead of citizens, unless there is a profit overage then go ahead and deposit it in our accounts.

I'd love to eliminate taxation, but LVT isn't a true tax, and neither are other congestion fees, which simply create a market for people using scarce commons to compensate others who they exclude. Similarly, in theory, pollution taxes are fines for degrading/depleting our commons

Then you must know that's partly why we don't already have LVT. It wouldn't make sense to argue against LVT by your reasoning... that your democratic state is so incompetent or corrupt that it would never implement something great like LVT, which would genuinely help people.

I realize I'm taking some liberty, but seems to be the gist of your comments
