Seinfeld sitcoms? It was kind of the progenitor for these shows, but I don't think there's a specific name for the genre because they generally follow other sitcom genre forms and tropes.

I guess I'd say that these shows are not monolithic. I agree that Always Sunny is spectacular (and Arrested Development goes in same bucket, as do the Brit versions of The Inbetweeners and [sorta] Coupling). But no, the Broad City character I dislike too much to enjoy.

All sitcoms are about unpleasant or flawed people. Otherwise they aren't funny. They just end up cloyingly sentimental shmaltz.

A sitcom like, say, Single Parents, has "morals" and the bad people learn something (even if they forget it by the next episode). But the protagonists in Always Sunny learn nothing and never apologize. The two are very different genres.
