For flow, you need at least 1 win (W) outcome (new action tried that actually works) for every 4 boring (b) outcomes (old actions that work as expected), and no more than 1 failed action (F), old or new, for every 4 wins.

What’s a good example of this sequence at work? How might one implement flow?

Not sure that's general. I wish we had good empirical studies of where the challenging but not frustrating line is drawn.

One provocative observation in C.'s *Creativity* is that many elite creatives seem to develop a self-feedback mechanism. Wondering whether becoming elite then isn't about transcending the 1/5 rule through private experimentation.

What if you decide to add experiment into the mix? more outcomes include:
1. exp-but-expect-to-fail-and-learn-something-new
2. exp-but-expect-to-succeed
I also can get into flow state with experimentation.
