Interesting that there are ruling class big histories (most textbooks) and ruled class big histories (Zinn for eg) but few family/clan based big histories. Albion’s seed comes closest. I’d like a history of US with families as analytic unit (not just prominent ones)

I think within British history you get more of it in history of border marches, Scotland and Northern Ireland but way outside my wheelhouse

Well interruptions of familial continuity would be part of the interest. See class etc from the family pov
Mormons are good at this. One of the things in the Scowcroft bio that stood out is family history in Utah. It’s a big deal there and such records were unusually copious by American standards
