I think I’ve been unconsciously negatively prioritizing traffic growth on ribbonfarm. The marginal cost of traffic (overages on my hosting plan) is not worth the marginal value of new readers. It’s a kind of stock buyback. Growth without a good idea driving it is a net liability.

Err... yes? Don’t see the joke. Managed Wordpress is sold by bandwidth tier. The alternative is either low/no control, getting in bed with Medium, or wasting a lot of time on admin. wpengine.com/plans/

I’ve done my own cost-benefit analysis and am confident I made the right decision with wpengine 5 years ago 🙂
It will change once a true serverless model becomes viable.

Yeah, I'm very comfortable with my choices. Your sketched value chain of longform blogging is basically not so much wrong as wrong for my style. Your value chain works for blogging as a means to another end.
