Being bored by something is more than being uninterested in it. There’s an element of coerced attention and blocking of attention escape pathways. That’s why a gravity well is a good metaphor. There’s an escape velocity to reach and an energy barrier to overcome.

The few things that have successfully escaped the deepening gravity well of boredom during the great weirding have been things driven by vast amounts of energy, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies or literal rocket launches from SpaceX

My pet peeve. Gravity is rarely a suited metapher when looked at closely. What's the "being bored" apoapsis? Why is there so much speed at periapsis of "being bored" and how does the "constantly falling but not hitting ground" part of work out for that motif?
