I fail a lot at things. Maybe because I try a lot of things I’m not good at. And keep failing until I gain competency. Anyway, I’m comfortable being a failure. I’m immune to failure. Other people’s failings bother me less. Somehow I’ve overridden my childhood perfectionist code.

mediocre and smug isn’t controversial, Jim, it’s default
I’m comfortable with the inherent compromises in any system or policy.
I can appreciate a system that produces failures if overall it’s a utilitarian gain.
I’m comfortable making value judgements. -

Childlike enthusiasm for even not-so-useful things, with innocence/naivete - this cannot be cultivated or adopted, only retained if you are already blessed/cursed with it

That’s not generally viewed as a negative. Occasionally tiresome if taken too far, but not negative.
