I've long thought that the two main sensibilities you can bring to any activity are a) romantic b) classical. I now think there's a third sensibility, associated with how an activity is pursued in a sort of domestic/hobby/amateur mode. I don't know what to call it.

You mean artisan. An artisan follows a material transformation. Guilds, crafts, the like.

No I don't. Artisans don't generally aspire to, or achieve, the level of art. Just craft. But hobbyist types have often achieved art levels (or done real science etc)

I guess. I’m talking artisan on deleuze/guattari way, they say it’s someone who follow a specific machinic flow. There’s transmutation on the other side. That can be art.

Lots of things in art and history museums were made by artisans (say, Chinese bronzes). I think the money distinction is less clear than you imagine. Some people fuck around even when you pay them.
