Mostly kidding. But Facebook criticism has become so safe/common that pro-Facebook takes (which don't seem to exist) are now more interesting than anti-Facebook takes. From a commentary perspective, time to buy rather than sell

I think it’s largely fringe pearl-clutching among self-appointed societal moral guardians. Usage evolution and stock price largely appear to have shrugged the sentiment off. Just a maturing sector.

I find “humanist” cultural criticism of social media to be an odd fringe echo chamber of assumed consensus. Five people in Brooklyn declare X “dead” and “so over” but X never gets the memo and lives on. You have to wonder if in fact it’s those 5 people who have become irrelevant.

The assumed consensus becomes its own reality - a position others can respond to. It doesn't actually need to accurately describe what's happening, the narrative can just live its entire life in the medium where it was created
