website question: I want to move my tempobook.com site from wordpress to a static single page site, since I no longer update that blog. Planning to put old posts there into a single PDF. Same domain, but URLs other than root will no longer work. What's the solution?

301 redirect seems wrong since I am not actually changing the domain, just simplifying what's there... so URLs which vanish will 404, so maybe just put the PDF itself on a nice 404 page? That'll probably hurt SEO but it's not a high-SEO site anyway

It would be nice to preserve links. I like the option to export static pages. Even if you just add a message to the top of each of those pages indicating that the site has changed along with a link. You can still have your single page site and the old archived structure.

For a friendlier web. ;) It's nice that other articles pointing your your individual posts can still get to their destination without having to do further searching. It's also not that much extra work to keep those pages intact, especially if they are static.

Ah, I think I have a different philosophy. I like the idea of a mortal web with a pathway for live pages to gracefully degrade down to a “retired” phase and eventually just a memorial. Right to be forgotten kinda thing.
