I’d go bigger: Any successful person incapabale of appreciating that their success is MOSTLY the result of luck—defined here as “factors other than their own individual virtues & talent”—is a pathological narcissist who is unaware of the social context in which they operate

I find that an unhelpful definition in most cases. Most successful people will point to initiative in making or at least taking opportunities that were also available to many others who disdained them. “Every kid could have played with the only computer in town, but only I did”

I think definition of true dumb luck should be limited to structural factors that will work for you even if you’re not aware of them, like race. So luck stack is: Dumb luck Opt-in easy luck Attitudinal/dispositioal luck (saying yes/openness to experience) Wrangle-it serendipity
