The most motivating kind of opportunity is one that comes a few years before you think you’re ready for it. The scramble-to-make-it-work kind. The least motivating ones are those that come long after when you’ve already set sights on next level challenges.

A common antifragile characteristic that we miss about some people: their performance is positively correlated to the difficulty of the challenge. They sometimes perform very poorly on easy tasks.

While the latter may not be motivating I think they are a nice reminder that there was a time when that opportunity was your wildest dream, and now you have surpassed it.
