One of the rare misfire jokes of old/classic Simpsons was Bart's class being taken to visit the boring "box factory" while right next door was the exciting "toy factory" they didn't go to. Weird assumption that if X is more fun than Y, factory(X) is more fun than factory(Y).

I've visited 2 actual chocolate factories. They're not actually that interesting. I suspect toy factories are not that fun either, unless there's a manufacturing angle (like tolerances in lego bricks). Your average toy isn't that special a product. It would be dull.

Otoh, seemingly dull things can have fascinating manufacturing. For instance a link chain factory I once visited. I'd expect box factories to actually be quite interesting. At least for some kinds of boxes.

Well, but when you are a kid and you go on a factory tour you sometimes get free samples. Although that can backfire too. Went on a bakery tour as a kid, but instead of getting donuts, we got pieces of bread ...

IIRC it wasn't a toy factory it was the studio where Krusty the Clown is filmed, which I think would be more interesting than most kinds of factory
