Both the Koch brothers and Robert Mercer are engineers by training. Peter Thiel is a philosopher by training. Alex Karl (Palantir) is a Frankfurt School social theorist. It astounds me that people still think bridging the two-cultures gap in either direction is a panacea

If you cross the STEM/humanities divide at all, chances are a) you’re a contrarian who’s picked beefs in native turf, bringing a grudge to the other side b) have dangerous skills and weapons the other side is not used to c) want to use relative differentiation for personal gain
