having fun and satisfying the org's metrics for your position don't necessarily go hand in hand...if you've bought into the culture and your identity as one of it's members, hell yeah it's fun. an employee who thinks he's having a great time is a great asset for a corporation.

true if you replace "not" with "never". I would say "if you're not regularly having fun, you're doing it wrong". A great job will occasionally force you to slog through periods of non-fun.
