Not true at least for me. I run away pronto if it seems like a coaching client is stealthily looking for therapy. As hard as this may be to believe, I’m a level 1 life coach as a result of a work initiative. It was one of the few genuinely interesting professional development experiences I’ve had. The trainers spent a lot of time on the distinction between coaching, mentoring and therapy

I'm mainly a sparring partner which should really be a whole other category, but I can't get people to adopt the term. I am nearly as bad a coach qua coach as I am a amateur therapist.
