Great thread. Thank you. Yes, the GND is fuzzy, short on specifics. Yes, we can put lot of new renewable energy on the grid. However it will still need to be in perfect balance at all times, which means baseline power, which probably won't be renewable.

I think we can keep nuclear but discard baseload as a construct. It's not helpful technically or politically now that grid-scale batteries/BTM tech are a reality and you can smooth out duck curves without gas peakers. It's important to evolve grid for *eventual* full renewable

Grid doesn't need to be in perfect balance at all times; that's a misunderstanding. It only needs to be in balance within storage capacity and spatial arbitrage limits: batteries+pumped hydro+larger grids. For eg. EU supergrid can balance German wind and Spain solar.
