Is there a simple formula for the coordinates of a point, given its distance from 2 vertices of a triangle (whose coordinates are also known)? I don't want to sit around deriving this :(

No you get a pair of points. You get an ellipse if the sum of the distances is constant. My case is the 2 distances are individually constant.
