They’re young. Adolescent life stage effects are far stronger than generational effects rn. I expect it will in fact have hormesis effect and vaccinate them to adult stressors. Basically they’re getting their mental health priorities early.

The stats, IIIRC, control for age. I hope you are correct, but the reactions seem to be coddling, not enduring. Eg trigger warnings and safe spaces. Both have an ideal version I like but are often overused to prevent the very hormetic experience necessary for growth.

Ideally, I'd take a mixed approach, correlating statistical signals with narrative events that seem to be psychologically salient vs. not. There's too much noise in the raw data signal. You need to unconfound for eg. current event effects etc
