Eff it, Yolo, I’m not waiting to see how Gen Z actually shapes up to tag them. Where’s the fun in data-driven hindsight. I’m calling it early based on early markers and portents
If Millennials are Premium Mediocre...
Gen Z is gonna be Domestic Cozy
Yeah you heard it here first
Conversation
Yeah yoir phrase needs more of the abnormally high levels of anxiety and depression from protection parenting making them fragile (no, really, see ’s latest book).
Imagine someone swaddled in a blanket to fight their nervous breakdowns. Name that.

I think that describes younger millennials more. Zs are too young to directly have processed stressors, but would have indirectly resonated with anxiety in X’er parents and Millennial siblings/uncles/aunts. The oldest Z’s were like 7 when recession hit, and 15 when Trump rose

Alsoim not sure they’re fragile. I suspect they’re actually gonna end up pretty strong, just with strong domestic cozy priorities. Homebodies in meatspace, cybernauts digitallh

What are you basing that on to contra the stats on higher incidents of anxiety and depression?

They’re young. Adolescent life stage effects are far stronger than generational effects rn. I expect it will in fact have hormesis effect and vaccinate them to adult stressors. Basically they’re getting their mental health priorities early.

The stats, IIIRC, control for age. I hope you are correct, but the reactions seem to be coddling, not enduring. Eg trigger warnings and safe spaces. Both have an ideal version I like but are often overused to prevent the very hormetic experience necessary for growth.

I think the actual prevalence of the extreme versions of that is vastly overblown by the right. I haven't actually encountered it in person.

🤷🏻♂️ Jon Haidt is not the right. I’m not talking about someone like Tucker or Alex Jones calling Fen Z snowflakes.

He’s more IDW sure, but I mean trigger warnings and safe spaces as concerns vastly overblown by the right. Also more millennial than Z since Zs just hitting college
Yeah no, the stats are not on the side there. Most of the trigger/safe-space etc stuff started ticking up as millennials left college and Gen Z entered.
