I've spent a good chunk of the last decade of my life thinking/writing about how to deal with individual sociopaths. Defense against vampires basically. I'm now getting interested in defense against zombie mobs that have escaped control of sociopaths who created them.

Gene's exaggerating, but in general, if you're really targeted by a proper mob, you're screwed. You can fight off the occasional solo zombie easily, but if a major rabble rouser decides to paint a target on your back, you're done.

If you have to turn off accounts and exit social media, that's not figurative, that's a real loss of freedom of access to public spaces. And yeah, some end up at physical risk too.
