A dead giveaway of mob-mind is aggressive, hostile interrogation of your statements with an unstated presumption of speaking for legitimate authority. The mob member unconsciously borrows a sense of moral authority from the crowd by virtue of 100% compliance.

Once you believe 70% is less “pure” than 100% you unconsciously assume you have a right to play cop. It’s the confidence of knowing there are more pitchforks on your side. How to respond.

      a) My usual response: ignore. Block/mute if aggressive b) Directly push back: For example “Who died and made you mayor of woke town?” (generally not worth it) c) Go on offensive. Challenge them to explain why they’re NOT zombies (really not worth it 99% of the time, walk away)

      d) My usual response: Hmm, I never thought about it that way... You may be right!

That just encourages them and reinforces ongoing radicalization

Do you think twitter trolls are any different than those from forums in the 90’s? (Seems like the same thing to me)

Trolls are actually mostly a solved problem, because they tend to be smart enough to respond to incentives. Zombies are not trolls. They're regular people who don't think much and get co-opted into large webs of toxic cancer. Like human computers in an ideological botnet.
