One of the observations that inspired my current thoughts on blogging is that increasingly when I run into a young person (under 25 say) who is clearly a talented writer, 9 times out of 10, they present as old-school magazine feature writers, and that's what they want to do.

Even if they run a blog at all, they run it with eyes turned aspirationally towards the cathedrals of traditional publishing rather than the frontier of unthought thoughts so to speak. The romance of having your own little sod house on the homesteading prairies seems lost on them
