If you could take a year off to do anything, with $100k cash, then time-travel back to right now, what would you do? You have to spend money or it goes away. Can’t bring anything back in time machine. Only mind and body changes come back with you. No external impact persists.

You could do anything from go on a murder rampage to learning skills to getting fit to getting married. Basically a one-shot Groundhog Year. A one-time trial run of next 365 days with full undo button.

You realize you could do nothing and just bring back memories of key stock market movements and make a killing? There’s some trivially easy wins here though they’re not that interesting.

Pull a Caine from Kung Fu the TV show and wander the earth except instead of using martial arts I would help those in need with immigration issues by conecting them to legal resources

I'd see if I could make America free. It'd probably cost around $23 M to do so, but I might be able to bootstrap it with $100K.

I would visit all the world’s historic landmarks before they get fully ruined by overtourism forever.

Seems like travel would be best. It's ephemeral and experience-based anyway. Reading too, but that doesn't take $100k.

I’d lock myself in my studio and do nothing but make art every day for the entire year.

I'd get TAOCP and rent a nice-but-not-too-expensive place, probably close to a place I can enjoy running around. Or, who knows, maybe a bit of math research, for the old times
