When somebody says "well said" about something you say, it's time to stop saying it. It means you didn't surprise them, but they've already thought the thought and are glad they weren't the one to say it. It means you're unwittingly acting as a spokesperson for a tribal sentiment

hmmm. If I think about the subtle difference, one thing that comes to mind is that it’s because a like doesn’t really mean “stop saying it, I agree”. It’s more either “I acknowledge you and am moving on” (FB) or “that’s nice, do more of that!” (twitter)
