This would be a very cruel thing to do to a live warren/anthill, but perhaps an illuminating thing to do with an abandoned one... pour some sort of molten material into one, let it harden, then break it out. Knowing humans, I expect somebody has already done this with a live one

This guy is basically a psychopath then. Like grown-up version of kids who like to burn ants with magnifying glasses or pull wings off dragonflies. I hated those kids at a deep gut level. Absolute worst human instinct. Pointless cruelty. I at least understand killing for food.
