I'm loving tunnels as metaphor for discovery. Newton had an oceanic metaphor for the unknown. The 19th century had untamed land frontiers. In the 20th century, it was the vacuum of space. Now I think it's tunnels. What are we tunneling through? Unprocessed piles of data.
