This is what I was thinking about. In dreams, we often 'connect' memories of places that are in reality geographically distinct.
The tunnel metaphor works for the inside of your head too, not just the world outside. Memory as atemporal data space with wormholes (tunnels with suspiciously fast transit times) is how I conceptualize inside of my own head.
