How come conservative media tends towards monopoly? If conservatives are roughly half the population shouldn’t a competitor to Fox or WSJ have emerged by now? Is there something about conservatism that favors monopoly (or liberalism that favors competition)?

Or a population bias. Journalists are more likely to be liberal.

I don’t know as much about radio but I think there’s more competition in conservative talk radio. I have read too that Fox News allows all their shows to sort of operate independently driving significant differentiation for its audience- little opportunity to compete?
