It is my understanding that the median ATC salary is over 6 figures. Where did you hear that many of them are taking second jobs?
Air travel is probably already marginally less safe in the US. Maybe the person bringing your plane in for a landing is sleep deprived from driving Lyft off shift. Unnerving thought.
Maybe flights should pass a tip jar around the cabin to collect money for ATCs
