It is interesting how many new on-demand behaviors are basically more powerful steroid versions of clumsy old TV/VCR era behaviors: record and watch later, fast forward (though not watch/listen at 2x), find Bob Ross to get an ASMR fix. DVD/TiVo era was the hybrid era.

I often watch at 1.5x or so, as long as characters’ speech is still recognizable and the vibe allows (e.g., music is not a major component). If I notice myself fast-forwarding regularly, would stop watching unless it’s for research purposes.

I always want to 2x watch documentary-like content (ex: Forensic Files) but to do that I have to use Netflix, etc. on my laptop with a browser plugin which is terribly inconvenient. Chromecast is also not a solution, because it removes the playback speed feature :(
