I need some anecdata for a piece I’m working on. What interesting ways do you consume on-demand content (TV, music, podcasts, blogs) that are NOT bingeing (I.e. NOT ‘consume all at once as soon as possible after it drops’)? Especially interested in TV, social rituals around it.

Examples: A friends/family “Game of Thrones night”, or cueing up podcasts for commutes, or instapapering long form and catching up on mornings at breakfast like a newspaper.

Do you binge as fast as possible or pace yourself, like 1-2 episodes a night?

several years ago, me and two geekids swore a blood-oath: we would only watch buffy when we were together. one of them is still around a lot, and we usually have a "blood-oath" show going. right now, we're unsworn, but trying out "the expanse" as a candidate.

I watch half an episode of fave Netflix show every day with lunch. Anyone who witnesses my behaviour is utterly shocked that I just pause it half way through and turn the tv off.

Long haul flights. If not consumed fully, either wait for next long haul or like Elsa, let it go.

Friday night movie night with the kids. We spend more time arguing over what to watch than we do watching though...I try to tell myself they are learning to find things they will love that those they love will also love. though that ideal tends not to be borne out in reality
