Doubt is an incredibly valuable capital asset. Every bit you ascertain creates two unknown bits you have to make assumptions about and can give yourself the benefit of doubt about. Known unknowns assumed to have favorable values until proven otherwise.

Doesn’t doubt need to be coupled with conviction. So perhaps AIs provide the doubt, humans provide the conviction, and together they make the world better (or worse).

The broader sentiment here reminds me of Bridgewater’s believability-weighted decision making algo/process that takes into account individual performance over time and domain expertise wrt the allocation of the benefit of the doubt in decision making and navigating uncertainty
