I used to think the job of AI is to believe things for us. My updated view is that their job will be to doubt things for us, systematically appropriating the benefit of doubt for us.

Doesn’t doubt need to be coupled with conviction. So perhaps AIs provide the doubt, humans provide the conviction, and together they make the world better (or worse).
