I just used the terms “eigencustomer” and “market eigenvectors” in an email. There are advantages to having clients with engineering backgrounds who grok such metaphors. You can’t talk this efficiently with even the smartest execs who are from marketing/sales type backgrounds.

If you're curious, think of market/business eigenvectors/values as the grain of the market, vs of the tech powering the business. For example, in container shipping, the "backhaul" problem exists because markets have asymmetric eigenstructure, but ships are a symmetric tech.

I think I understand eigenvectors and eigenvalues pretty well and I'm very much struggling to understand this. I'm not sure this is a good idea even with tech audience. What did you mean exactly?

Language is a tool that only works when others have the same ones you do.

What about customer/market spectrum in the sense of matrix spectrum, is that what you mean.
